Latest HWiNFO Software Version Rolls Out, Featuring Support for Zen 6 AMD CPUs/APUs; Adds RTX 5060 With GB205 Die As Well

Popular hardware monitoring tool, HWiNFO, just got its latest update, and before you panic, let me tell you that HWiNFO isn't flagged with malware like CPUID's tools, like CPU-Z and HWMonitor. HWiNFO's latest version 8.46 rolled out with some crucial updates, offering new functionalities and enhancements for modern hardware. Apart from adding support for the latest and upcoming hardware, it is also bringing enhanced reporting of components.

That said, the release notes for the latest version reveal that HWiNFO added the "Next-Gen" AMD CPUs and APUs to its database. This likely indicates early support for AMD Zen 6, not for any Zen 5 CPU/APU lineup. Most Zen 5 chips have already been released, and it's time for Zen 6 chips to receive proper optimizations before the official launch. AMD's Zen 6 lineup includes both desktop and laptop lineups, also known as "Olympic Ridge" and "Medusa Point", respectively.

If you have been reading the developments around these families, you might be aware that Zen 6 desktop CPUs will be the first to bring a 12-Core CCD, offering core configurations of up to 24 cores. The mobile lineup, on the other hand, will be divided into two groups: Low TDP and High TDP variants. The dedicated APU series "Medusa Halo" will be the first chips that will bring the upcoming RDNA 5 architecture onboard, finally transitioning from the RDNA 3.5 architecture that will be used even on the Zen 6 Olympic Ridge and Medusa Point families.

One more interesting stuff seen in the HWiNFO release notes reveal that NVIDIA might be using a cut-down GB205 die for the GeForce RTX 5060. It appears that there are might be a lot of GB205 chips that didn't make it on the GeForce RTX 5070. Apart from using a different die, another GeForce RTX 5060 iteration is under development. It's the one with 9 GB GDDR7 memory through a 96-bit memory bus as per the latest rumor.
