Due to an increase in reports of fake RAM kits, Corsair has begun packaging its Vengeance DDR5 RAM modules in a new packaging to combat counterfeits.

Corsair Officially Announces Transparent Vengeance DDR5 Packaging, Making it Easier for Verifying the Authenticity

You may have already read reports of fake DDR5 kits being circulated in the market. While fake hardware scams are well-known, the rise in fake DDR5 RAM kits began at the end of 2025 as a result of higher prices. Some users got DDR4 RAM modules inside DDR5 shells, while some received DDR4 modules inside DDR5 packaging.

This was one of the very obvious reasons why it became difficult to verify the authenticity of DDR5 RAM kits, since many kits came inside opaque packaging. To combat such counterfeits, Corsair started packing some of its DDR5 RAM modules in a new packaging, starting this year. Corsair announced this officially at the beginning of this month in a blog post, confirming the packaging update.

As DRAM prices continue to rise, protecting product authenticity has become increasingly important. That’s why we have updated our DRAM packaging, focusing on security and transparency while retaining environmental responsibility.

The new packaging involves transitioning from traditional cardboard boxes to Sealed Plastic Clamshells that are made from recycled plastic. These are specifically used for the Vengeance DDR5 memory, including the RGB, non-RGB, and the RGB RS kits. Not only does the new packaging allow users to see and confirm the authenticity of the RAM modules, but it's also helpful in returns.

Some DRAM SKUs may still be using the paper box format but we are reintroducing a security label on the box to provide higher protection. This update will roll out soon, aligning those SKUs’ packaging with the same security goals while preserving its familiar presentation.

Additionally, the clamshell features a tamper-evident seal that tears when the packaging is opened, making it difficult to access the RAM kits without leaving clear signs of interference. That said, some kits will still be using the traditional packaging, but with a security label, Corsair will start offering better protection soon.
