Colorful CVN X870 ARK Frozen V14 brings solid features for users wanting to build a powerful gaming/productivity setup with the latest AMD Ryzen 9000 CPUs.

Colorful Introduces a White-Themed X870 Motherboard With CVN Pull-Out Switch for Easy GPU Removal; Brings Modern Connectivity and Support for Latest AMD CPUs and Fast Memories

The Chinese PC hardware manufacturer, Colorful, has debuted its first X870 offering for AMD Ryzen 7000/8000/9000 users. The company doesn't have a lot of models in the 800 series and while it does have two B850 chipset motherboards, it lacks a proper X870 lineup. With the launch of CVN X870 ARK Frozen V14, it is finally starting its own custom designs for enthusiasts.

Considering the specifications and features of the CVN X870 ARK Frozen V14, it doesn't appear to be high-end but more of a mid-range motherboard. It brings 14+2+1 power phases with 80A DrMOS for CPU and memory overclocking and decently-sized heatsinks over the VRM components to keep them cool.

It's technically an all-white motherboard but with orange accents for a distinguished appearance. Since it's from the CVN series, it comes with custom frost cooling armor for better heat dissipation and has dedicated shields for all the M.2 slots as well. The motherboard brings decent connectivity out of the box, including the latest WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.

For memory, it can support up to 8200 MT/s of speeds, which is definitely not the best in the industry, but considering how difficult it can be to hit 8000 MT/s+ on AM5 motherboards, especially with higher RAM capacity, it's still satisfactory. Colorful hasn't clearly mentioned whether 8200 MT/s is achievable in a single or dual-sticks configuration, but it's likely with a single RAM module.

For storage and graphics cards, the motherboard comes with native PCI-E Gen 5.0 support and offers Gen 5.0 speeds for the first two M.2 slots. The third runs at Gen 4.0, controlled by the chipset. There are 2x PCI-E x16 slots and 1x PCI-E x1 slots for expansion cards and the primary PEG features a CVN Pullout Switch for faster and hassle-free installation/uninstallation of the GPU.

Finally, the I/O is packed with some of the latest connectivity ports, including multiple Type A USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports and one USB4 40 Gbps Type C port. There are two USB 2.0 ports for peripheral connecivity and two display outputs as well (HDMI and DP). A BIOS update button is also provided for a convenient BIOS upgrade, but there isn't much onboard for troubleshooting.
