As per Colorful, the new X3D AI Turbo feature can deliver a noticeable boost in gaming performance when users use Ryzen X3D chips.

With the launch of Ryzen 7 9850X3D, a new gaming benchmark has been set, and motherboard makers are now designing special features to squeeze more performance out of the chip. AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D remains a competitive CPU that delivers nearly identical gaming performance to the 9850X3D, and considering millions of users already have 9800X3D in their rigs, it's logical to design utilities that can push the second-best gaming CPU to its full potential as well.

Chinese hardware maker, Colorful, has announced its proprietary feature called X3D AI High Frame Mode or X3D AI Turbo, which can do this job without having users spend several hours tweaking things. With the X3D AI Turbo mode, users will be able to boost their frame rates in games in a matter of seconds, saving both time and effort.

The X3D AI Turbo seems familiar, as we have the GIGABYTE X3D Turbo mode for GIGABYTE AM5 motherboards to boost Ryzen X3D performance, and Colorful's strategy is the same: Apply preset PBO and frequency-tuning profiles that are tailored specifically for X3D CPUs using AI. The tool will be available in the BIOS, and using an "Auto Select" mechanism, the motherboard firmware will evaluate the processor's quality and automatically choose the most suitable performance profile.

Right now, the feature is only compatible with the Ryzen 7 9800X3D and Ryzen 9850X3D, unlike GIGABYTE's utility, which reportedly also works with non-X3D AM5 chips. Moreover, if you remember, Colorful did introduce a similar feature last year, which also worked on non-X3D CPUs. That said, according to Colorful's internal testing, the Colorful X3D AI Turbo delivered 8.3% higher average FPS in Valorant when paired with the Ryzen 7 9850X3D and the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti. The 1% Lows saw even a better 16.4% improvement.

Of course, the performance gains will depend on title to title and will be heavily dependent on the configuration. Right now, only two motherboards support X3D AI Turbo mode: CVN B850M ARK Frozen and CVN X870E ARK Frozen motherboards, which were announced
