Cities: Skylines delivers a modern take on the classic city simulation. It introduces new gameplay elements for creating and maintaining a city. It comes form the creators of the Cities in Motion series, and features a fully realized transport system.  It also enables players to mod the game to suit their play style.

Main features:

  • Multi-tiered and challenging simulation: Constructing your city from the ground up is easy to learn, but hard to master. Playing as the mayor of your city you’ll be faced with balancing essential requirements such as education, water, electricity, police, fire fighting, healthcare and much more along with your citys real economy system. #1: Game crashes back to Desktop :

Whenever you open the game, it allows you to play for few minutes. Then later, it will crash back to the desktop. There is no particular solution for this. But the most recommended solution is updating your drivers . Many people seem to neglect this . If you have drivers which are 6 months older, then you cannot run this game. To update the drivers, use Driver Scanner (Link to trial version). It makes the task simpler. After downloading it, you need to perform a system scan with it. Then after, you will end up with the results from where you can update the drivers with one click.

#2: Autosave option :

This seemed to be a problem for the players as there is no auto save option. The developers did not talk about this yet. Hope they add this option soon with the patch.

#3: Game flickering issues :

Make sure that your drivers are up to date. You can also solve this issue by disabling SLI/ crossfire option.

#4: Low FPS/ Lag while playing :

If you are using laptop, then make sure that you have switched from intergated to dedicated graphics. For PC users,

  • Firstly, set high priority for the game through Task manager.
  • Then, use Razer Game booster to close unwanted backward tasks while playing the game.

#4: Dll Crash on start up Fix

“The program has stopped working as “Dllfilename.dll” is missing from your Computer.

This is one of the error message regarding the Dll crashes. I have seen people uninstalling the game after encountering this error. That’s just a waste. I will show you the simplest method to fix this error.

  • Download the Dll-Files Fixer from here.  (Link to trial version, you can extend the license later)
  • After downloading, run the tool.
  • Then, it will scan your PC for Dll errors. It generally takes 5-10 minutes.
  • After that, you can directly fix the errors through one click.

#5: Cities Skylines.exe has stopped working fix:

We have a workaround that can help you in solving the error. This may work for those who are having problems with DLL files.

  • First of all, navigate to Steamapps folder to find “error.log” file.
  • After finding it, open with notepad.
  • Now, you can see something like “The application caused access violation module in xxxx.dll”
  • Make a note of that Dll File name.

  • Download Dll-Files Fixer from here (It’s link to Trial version. You can extend the license f necessary.)
  • After downloading, open “Install Dll Files” tab.
  • Now, input the name of Dll file in the bar and click on “install”
  • The software installs the file in right place and now you should be able to play.

You can also try this workaround.

  • Go to run and type “msconfig”
  • Open Boot and select advanced options.
  • Check number of processors and select it to 12.
  • Now,get back to the game.

#6: How to Turn of Film Grain in Cities: Skylines

There is a tutorial on Steam which can help you in removing Film grain . You can have a look at it here .

#7: Black screen on Startup:

First of all, change the resolution of the Desktop to Game resolution and then open the game. If this did not solve the problem, then you have to update the drivers .  If you still have issues, then uninstall the game and re-install it by disabling your Anti-virus

#8: GetThreadContext Failed Error :

Your Anti-virus firewall causes this problem generally. As the first workaround, disable your Anti-virus and play the game. If that didn’t help

  • Go to Control Panel
  • Open “User Account control panel”
  • Here, disable controlling option.

We will bring you any new information on Cities: Skylines, as soon as it becomes available.
