Using ChatGPT would previously require you to register an account, which would be viewed as a tedious process because we have witnessed on several occasions that you would have to sign up again while using the same browser. Thankfully, OpenAI is bringing some welcome changes to the way we use the chatbot, with the company stating that users no longer need to register through an account to take advantage of the service. However, it is not like everything announced by OpenAI will be account-free, as you will soon find out.
Only ChatGPT can be used without an account, as other OpenAI products still require a registration
The announcement was made through various channels, starting with an official blog on OpenAI’s website, and shortly after, a post went live on X, revealing that ChatGPT users no longer need to register to start using the service. The company has mentioned the following in its blog post while also stating that ChatGPT has boomed in popularity as it is being used by more than 100 million people weekly and across several countries.
“It’s core to our mission to make tools like ChatGPT broadly available so that people can experience the benefits of AI. More than 100 million people across 185 countries use ChatGPT weekly to learn something new, find creative inspiration, and get answers to their questions. Starting today, you can use ChatGPT instantly without needing to sign-up. We're rolling this out gradually, with the aim to make AI accessible to anyone curious about its capabilities.”

Unfortunately, this easy access to ChatGPT is only limited to the chatbot because OpenAI’s other products cannot be used without an account. These products include DALL-E 3, which also requires a subscription to operate. Additionally, OpenAI’s other services, such as the newly announced AI voice cloning service Voice Engine and the video creation platform Sora, remain available to just a limited number of users. In fact, those who regularly use an OpenAI account will not gain any advantages from using the other services until a proper rollout is initiated.
