A few hours ago, The Chinese Room revealed the first playable clan in the upcoming action RPG Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2. Unsurprisingly, the Brujah clan will be playable, offering a combat style focused on brutal melee strikes.

In Bloodlines 2, Clan Brujah will offer a brutal melee playstyle with its abilities (in Vampire: The Masquerade, known as Disciplines), getting you into the fray and rewarding you for staying there. Exemplified in the video, our Brujah uses charge to gain a burst of momentum, grab an enemy, drag them with you and body slam them into a wall. Don’t assume you’re limited to charging just one enemy, either. In early 2024, we’ll be back with a complete list of Brujah discipline powers you will be able to use in the game.

According to the official ruleset of Vampire: The Masquerade, members of the Brujah clan member can take advantage of the following Disciplines:

  • Celerity allows the Brujah to strike fast and move even faster when the situation becomes too dangerous.
  • Potence gives them the strength behind their attacks, bolstering their swings and allowing them to use fists rather than words to sway.
  • Presence is never the last resort with a Brujah. Giving them an edge when attempting to use words rather than physical violence to make their point.

Of course, Bloodlines 2 may make some changes to the pen-and-paper roleplaying game. As for the clan's background, Brujah used to be made of warrior-poets and philosophers in ancient times. However, following the destruction of their city of Carthage, they have largely become a clan of rebels and revolutionaries. They have next to no organization these days; their members are fierce and passionate, but this is also part of their Bane: it is more difficult for them to resist the Beast, the inner predator that strives for the control of the vampire's mind, and the slightest provocation can send them in a frenzied rage.

The Chinese Room promised to reveal the second of the four playable clans available in Bloodlines 2 next week, following last week's unveiling of the main protagonist, the Elder Phyre. The game is scheduled to launch in Fall 2024, with the gameplay debut coming early next year.
