It's been four years and a half since 2K announced that a new studio called Cloud Chamber had been established specifically to produce new games in the beloved BioShock franchise.

Since then, the studio has been largely quiet. However, a Cloud Chamber employee revealed a few hours ago via LinkedIn that the studio is ramping up its recruitment with a hefty amount of job openings.

The hashtag BioShock team at 2K Cloud Chamber is ramping up! We have many positions open across a variety of disciplines including art, animation, engineering, design, narrative, and production. We are working on a really awesome project, and our studio is remote-friendly.

Indeed, the recruiting page shows 30 job offers from Cloud Chamber across the offices in Novato, California, USA, and Montréal, Quebec, Canada:

Now, the gaming industry is known for its turnover, and it is far from unusual to see studios still hiring in a few key roles in the later stages of a game project. That said, with this many roles still open, it is likely we'll have to wait a while longer to play the new BioShock game. It would line up with the rumor from May 2023, when we heard that the game had been rebooted again in Summer 2022, inevitably causing a delay. Thankfully, Judas from BioShock creator Ken Levine seems closer to launch, although we still don't have a concrete release window for that one either.

2K's dystopic franchise is also being adapted into a feature film by Netflix. Francis Lawrence, the director of Constantine, I Am Legend, and The Hunger Games, has been selected to direct the BioShock movie.
