There is a possibility that Google might formally announce the Pixel 9 series today on the second day of I/O, with a proper launch happening in October. The phones have leaked a number of times, and the company has confirmed that the upcoming phones are going to be powered by an even more powerful version of the Gemini Nano. This model will come with better features that will make its AI capabilities more diverse than those of other devices in the competition.
The Pixel 9 series will get a bump in its AI capabilities thanks to a more powerful Gemini Nano model
The upgraded Gemini Nano that will run on the Pixel 9 series will be multimodal, which means that it will be capable of processing more than just text input. Users will be able to enjoy getting context from images, sounds, and spoken languages. Google even posted a teaser of how this is going to work and you can have a look at that below:

Although Gemini Nano is already available on the Pixel 8 series, it does not deliver many features. Google claims that the model coming to the Pixel 9 series will be much more powerful than what is already available, and we have a feeling we will see a glimpse of it today.
Sadly, at the moment, Google has not confirmed if the improved Gemini Nano will be available for older Pixel devices other than the Pixel 9 series. We are also not sure if other non-Pixel devices that are already running Gemini Nano will be getting access to these features, but it will be interesting to see if that happens. Today is the second day of Google I/O, and we are expecting a lot more announcements from the company, so be sure to stay tuned, and we will keep you posted.
It is safe to say that Google's focus on AI has become much more evident, and the company is more invested than ever. Last night's event was just one example, and the Pixel 9 series will more than prove that the company is heavily invested in making smartphones even smarter.
