Banner Saga 3 Kickstarter Campaign Goes Live
The world is breaking. Indie developer Stoic announces that the Kickstarter campaign of Banner Saga 3, the third and final chapter of the epic turn-based Viking fantasy.
The final chapter of the BAFTA-nominated series takes players beyond the wall of Darkness. Again, each choice you make in and out of the battlefield will affect the lives of your family and clansmen as you explore the city of Arberrang.
Stoic is asking for $200,000 in 42 days with stretch goals that will add more content and increase some of the production value. It’s also important to note that Stoic will be investing its own money in Banner Saga 3 as well. Expect to see the return of the gorgeous hand-drawn animations and the overall sense of dread the Banner Saga is known for.
John Watson, co-founder and Technical Director at Stoic, explained in a press release why the small indie studio is heading to Kickstarter this time around:
We’re going full circle and returning to Kickstarter where it all began. In 2012, the backers were instrumental in bringing the saga to life, smashing our initial funding target that led us to increase the scope, fidelity and production values of Banner Saga. We’re proud to be indie, and despite the stellar support we get from our publisher, Versus Evil, we’re not taking any outside funding to bring this series home, we’d love Kickstarter support to add additional features that are simply beyond our current budget.
Pledging at least $20 will get you aa copy of the game for PC. Pledge over $5,000 and you’ll be put into the game as an in-game character and an executive producer credit for pledges over $10,000.
No launch date has been announced for Banner Saga 3. You can pick up the Banner Saga 2 right now on Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC.
