Although this is just a teaser, the ASUS W790 PRO series motherboard seems to be a monster in terms of design and proportions. We can see the very simplistic brushed metallic heatsinks over the Intel W790 PCH and a brief glimpse at the Intel LGA 4677 socket which will support the latest Xeon Workstation CPUs codenamed Sapphire Rapids.

The ASUS W790 PRO series motherboard should feature a vast array of I/O options. The socket is surrounded by 8 DDR5 DIMM slots which can support either 4-channel or 8-channel memory. The storage options include 10 SATA III ports, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 front panel header, several PCIe Gen 5.0 M.2 SSD slots, and up to 7 PCIe Gen 5.0 full-length slots for graphics and expansion cards.

There's also an auxiliary 6-pin connector on the motherboard to power those extra PCIe lanes once this board is loaded with expansion cards. The motherboard makes use of some huge heatsinks on the VRMs and there's also a Power On/Off and a Reset button which points to an OC-ready nature of this motherboard. The Intel Xeon Sapphire Rapids Workstation CPUs will come in two flavors, the Xeon W-2400 with 4-channel and 64-Lane & the Xeon W-3400 with 8-channel and 112-Lane options.

Intel will be hosting an unveil tomorrow for its next-gen workstation CPU platform and family so we can expect even more details and options from other motherboard manufacturers who will offer a range of W790 motherboard options to workstation users, content creators, and enthusiasts. There will be a lot to talk about tomorrow so stay tuned as we bring you the latest information.
