After it was first rumored to get its full reveal last week, only for a new set of rumors to push the reveal to this week, today Ubisoft finally came out and confirmed that Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced will get its full reveal this week in just two days time on April 23, 2026, with a full premiere on YouTube.
The company also acknowledged that the remake has long been the video game industry's biggest open secret, and in a post on the official X (formerly Twitter) account announcing the premiere, a short teaser opened by calling it "Gaming's Worst Kept Secret," which is almost practically an understatement at this point.
The reveal will take place at 9am PDT / 12pm EDT / 5pm BST, and it'll hopefully include answers to several questions players have had about the remake for months now. It'll also hopefully reveal a release date, which is currently rumoured to be set for July 9, 2026.
Outside of a release date confirmation and a look at some gameplay, we'll also hopefully get a better idea of what has changed in this remake. Will the present-day missions actually be cut, like they were rumoured to be? Will this new version include content that was cut from the original game? And what has changed about the game's visuals that should make players excited to jump back in?
Sure, a better frame rate and higher resolutions are nice, but there has to be something more than that if players are going to be expected to drop some of their hard-earned cash on this coming remake. It'll also be interesting to see just how far the 'Resynced' subtitle goes in this case. Ubisoft's chief executive officer, Yves Guillemot promised there would be remakes of the Assassin's Creed games years ago.
Does 'Resynced' mean remake in the way we understand it, like how the Resident Evil 2 Remake not only provided a massive visual overhaul, but also introduced entirely new game mechanics, or will it actually be more of a remaster, where the biggest changes are visual and technical improvements?
There's a lot to look for with Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, since it could very well set the tone for what we can expect from Ubisoft going forward in several ways. We'll see what the reveal on Wednesday has in store for us.
