During September's State of Play, we learned that ArcheAge 2 has a new title: ArcheAge Chronicles. According to developer XLGAMES, the title reflects some changes made to the game, which now combines some MMO elements with the online action RPG genre. Jake Song, CEO of XLGAMES, said in a statement:

We are incredibly excited to unveil 'ArcheAge Chronicles' to the world. This new title represents our vision of combining the expansive, immersive elements of an MMO with the dynamic, engaging gameplay of an Online Action RPG. We can't wait for players to experience the next chapter of the ArcheAge universe.

Sang Woo Han, CEO of publisher Kakao Games, added:

Kakao Games is proud to partner with XLGAMES to bring 'ArcheAge Chronicles' to a global audience. The combination of a richly detailed world and innovative gameplay ensures that 'ArcheAge Chronicles' will set a new standard for the genre. We look forward to years of adventures in Auroria with the XLGAMES team.

We already knew that ArcheAge 2 had pared back the large scale PvP featured in the original game in favor of PvE and Guild versus Guild conflict. However, the latter was not mentioned in the latest press release, leaving questions on whether there will be any PvP at all.

Moreover, unlike the first ArcheAge game, housing will be instanced, as in most MMORPGs. Executive Producer Yongjin Ham explained:

In ArcheAge Chronicles, housing will be a cornerstone feature, enabling players to build and customize their own homes. Transitioning from the previous open-world model, ArcheAge Chronicles now features dedicated housing zones where players can showcase their creativity and achievements. Additionally, the game enables multiple players to come together to form vibrant, town-like communities. Furthermore, ArcheAge Chronicles offers a rich variety of life skills, such as farming, crafting, and trading, providing numerous ways to engage with the game world and its economy.

ArcheAge Chronicles will feature 'large-scale' PvE raids for teams of ten or more players, where groups will be able to 'master chain skills in sync to take down even the most formidable raid bosses.'

The game is available for wishlisting on all platforms: PC Steam, PC Epic Games Store, PlayStation Store, and Xbox Store. The PC stores also already include details on the rather hefty minimum and recommended requirements of the Unreal Engine 5-powered title.
