This morning, South Korean developer Gravity announced the RAGNAROK Console Project, a new single player roleplaying game based on the popular RAGNAROK ONLINE franchise.
As suggested by its title, it will be the first installment to launch on consoles (Sony's PlayStation 5, Microsoft's Xbox Series S and X, and the Nintendo Switch 2), though it's also already listed for PC via Steam simply as RAGNAROK PROJECT. The game is targeting a debut in the first half of 2027; development is handled by another Korean studio, Waycoder.
The Steam page includes a detailed overview and PC system requirements:
Set in a familiar yet completely reimagined world, players will confront a collapsing reality and the hidden truths buried within it. Choices and consequences. A journey from which there is no turning back.
A Narrative Built on Choice and Responsibility
Experience a story where beliefs and decisions collide — not a simple tale of good versus evil.
Explore a World on the Brink of Collapse
Travel through deserts, ruins, research facilities, and dimensional rift zones as you uncover the truth behind a world falling apart.
Diverse Characters and Classes
Continue your journey alongside companions with distinct roles and combat styles, including Knights, Mages, Priests, Hunters, and more.
Dimensions and Rifts
Dimensional distortions and the secrets surrounding the Heart of Ymir begin to slowly consume the world.

For those unfamiliar with RAGNAROK ONLINE, it is a long-running Korean MMORPG franchise that started in 2002. It was built around Norse mythology, being inspired by the manhwa Ragnarok by Lee Myung-jin, but with a very distinctive anime-style presentation: 2D character sprites moving in 3D environments. Players create characters, choose from a broad class system, level up through combat and quests, and specialize through job changes and later rebirth/transcendence systems.
A sequel was released in 2012, and a third game is currently in development, with the first developer diary published last week.
