Pre-orders of the Apple Vision Pro will commence shortly, but before that, we have stumbled upon a few details regarding the AR headset and the discounts offered to company employees. Apple has provided concessions in the past for its workforce, and this year will be no different, which is excellent news if you are a part of the Cupertino giant’s team.
With the discount, the Apple Vision Pro will cost employees $2,624, but that is without taxes
At $3,499, the Apple Vision Pro was already going to be a tough pill to swallow for the majority of consumers. Fortunately, Apple employees get a slight breather, as that 25 percent discount means that the price of the mixed-reality headset will drop to around $2,624, according to MacRumors. However, the price mentioned is without taxes, so employees will still be required to pay that amount out of their pockets.
Bloomberg reported about a memo that contained this information, with Apple employees being informed about the 25 percent discount. It is not estimated how many Apple Vision Pro units will be purchased by the company’s employees, though a price cut of this size seems like an attractive option. However, it is not an approach that Apple is following for the first time.
The company previously introduced a 50 percent discount for employees when it was gearing up to launch the Apple Watch and HomePod, though the report does not mention why the discount was only 25 percent this time. It is possible that with the initial shipments of Apple Vision Pro estimated to reach up to just 80,000 units, there might not be enough stock to go around; hence, a smaller discount is being offered.
Employees will also be reimbursed for any prescription lenses purchased for the Apple Vision Pro, which can cost between $99 and $149, so it is another sweet deal for these individuals to take advantage of. Pre-orders of the headset will start at 5 AM Pacific Time, so we will provide any updates shortly after.
