The Apple Vision Pro has been predicted to sell out as soon as pre-orders go live, but TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo wanted to reiterate his statement in case his followers on X missed out on his previous update. On this occasion, Kuo states that the initial shipments of the mixed-reality headset will be between 60,000 and 80,000 units, which means that Apple may only generate up to $279.92 million from the launch.
However, Apple has multiple businesses to keep it financially afloat, so the first batch of Apple Vision Pro could be more of a pilot launch to see how the market responds to such a product. Kuo has previously stated that the Apple Vision Pro’s hardware specifications and software are above the industry average and believes that the expensive $3,499 price tag will not hold consumers back from picking up the headset.

Instead, he predicts that the user experience, paired with the groundbreaking technology innovations, will allow the Apple Vision Pro to sell out. In addition to the $3,499 amount, Apple has other ways to generate revenue through its AR headset sales; accessory sales. For those who do not know, the company is expected to sell prescription lenses that will be priced between $99 and $149, so this will turn into yet another revenue stream for the California-based giant.
Kuo previously estimated that around 500,000 units of the Apple Vision Pro will be shipped in 2024, and this particular model will likely be shipped for quite a while, as the analyst believes that its successor will not enter mass production until 2027. In the meantime, Apple is said to be working on a cheaper alternative for a potential launch in 2025, but the low-cost option may arrive with an iPhone chipset instead of a Mac one, along with an inferior display.
