AT&T user shares unsettling experience of fake review

The telecommunication sector is seeing intense competition as each tries to mark its position as the go-to carrier. The pressure usually falls upon the staff of the companies, who then engage in either shady sales practices or resort to other pushy or unethical techniques. It has not been long since we covered the case of an AT&T customer facing a rather unusual situation involving an authorized retailer using the user's phone to post a fake review under their name. Now, it seems like that was not an isolated incident, as another customer has come forward with a similar bizarre experience, this time at a different A&T store.

Another AT&T customer has come forward about a fake review being posted under their name at an authorized retail location, raising concerns regarding the growing breach

AT&T faced quite the backlash when, a while back, one of its customers came forward about their experience with a retailer posting reviews from their phone without permission and being engaged in a clear breach of trust and personal privacy. The incident, believed to be a single occurrence, still managed to stir discussions and infuriated a lot of other customers, who shared plans to switch over to other telecommunication service providers instead. AT&T ensured that users would take immediate notice of the issue and prevent such situations in the future.

However, the incident did happen again as an AT&T user took it to Reddit to share a yet another familiar unpleasant situation where an employee in an AT&T store in Seattle posted a review from the Redditor's mother-in-law's phone about himself this time and stated on behalf of the user that the specific employee has been of great service. It was only when the store replied to the review that the customer got a notification about the post, which would otherwise have gone completely unnoticed.

Many others replied to the given post on Reddit and suggested that AT&T has many similar positive reviews written for it, and it could potentially be done the same way this particular one was posted, questioning the authenticity of every review left for the company. Some AT&T customers even went on to state that the practice of posting fake reviews was a common one at authorized retailers. Some of the users were of the opinion that older and less technical customers tend to fall prey to such incidents more.

AT&T needs to vigilantly look for ways to combat unethical practices and ill experiences for customers in order to avoid major damage to the carrier's credibility and reputation.
