Android Wear 2.6 Update Brings Slew Of New Features & Changes, Download Now

Android Wear 2.6

Android Wear, which is an operating system for smartwatches and wearables has now got a new update that brings the version to 2.6. With the new update, the latest version brings a slew of new features onboard.

Android Wear 2.6 brings new feature to the notifications “dynamic text size”, the text size of notifications now changes according to the length of the message. This means that notifications featuring symbols will now be shown in smaller text and without symbols will be displayed in comparatively larger text. Google states that the new text size changing ability will now show an extra line of text. As good as the “dynamic text size” feature sounds, but Android Police reports that the text size change is not very noticeable on the smartwatch.

Changes in Quick Settings

Another change has arrived in the Quick Settings shade that now shows current connection status indicators for connectivity options like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and cellular connectivity. Users on Android Wear 2.6 will be able to check it out by swiping down gesture. The latest version also allows users to add a shortcut to the app that they have used last from their watch face. Users just need to open the watch face editor and tap on "+" icon. The recent app complication should also appear in the General category.

Download Indicators

Android Wear 2.6 also allows users to see how much time is left for download, through an indicator. Lastly, Google has also made the side-swipe and long-press gestures a bit harder to fire up, it will prevent accidental swipes.

We think that all these new features were long due for Android Wear, we are surprised that Google took so much time to bring them aboard. The latest update is now available in the Play Store. Users can head to the Play Store and download the latest version.
