And for your further confirmation, here is the Samsung Canada tweet that confirmed roll out of Android 4.1 JellyBean update for the Samsung Galaxy S III.

It seems a bit too late from Samsung’s end, since most of the Galaxy S III already have root and are running custom ROMs based on Android 4.2 instead of the everywhere-else-depleted 4.1. However, this is great for those who like to keep their stuff stock i.e. without going for bootloader unlock and root or ROMs. Although Samsung is all set to release the update on Monday, but lack of official word or confirmation from Canadian carriers is a bit of surprise and frustrating for many. It is Monday, the 3rd December for sure but who’s going to receive it first and on what carrier, is still a mystery. We believe that some carriers might announce their Android 4.1 JellyBean roll out for the Samsung Galaxy S III before Monday, but that’s only what we can speculate and wish for.

In case you have root on your device with an unlocked bootloader, then we’d suggest against going for this update. Since you have root and a recovery installed, so waiting for a custom ROM based on Android 4.1 JellyBean, that is based on the 3rd December update, is a better idea. You can also keep a tab on the dedicated Samsung Galaxy S III hub on XDA Developers forum to check out any new ROMs that are developed using the official Android 4.1 JellyBean as base.
