With the release of latest AMD GPU drivers, the RDNA 4 GPUs seem to perform really well compared to the launch drivers. The latest review by Hardware Unboxed reveals a good performance bump since last time.

Hardware Unboxed Analysis Shows Radeon RX 9070 XT Has Improved By 9% at 1440p and By 4% at 4K, Leaving Behind the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, Thanks to the Adrenalin Driver 25.6.3

The launch GPU driver for the RDNA 4 GPUs seems to have throttled their performance. As AMD rolls out its latest GPU Adrenalin Driver version 25.6.3, the tables have turned and now the Radeon RX 9070 XT is leading the charts when compared to its closest competitor from NVIDIA. Theoretically, the RX 9070 XT is $150 cheaper than the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti but when it comes to the real world pricing, their prices are still significantly higher at the moment.

Keeping the price differences aside, we now have the Radeon RX 9070 XT beat the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti by a good 3% margin as shown by Hardware Unboxed. Initially, the GPU came out 2.5% slower than the RTX 5070 Ti with the Adrenalin Driver 25.3.1 but with the release of 25.6.3, the RX 9070 XT seems to have gained a lot of prowess, achieving double digit gains in multiple titles.

While in some games, the gains are almost negligible, majority of games still saw a decent jump compared to the last time. RX 9070 XT, which was easily beaten by RTX 5070 Ti in titles like Starfield, Delta Force, and CS2, has now successfully either closed the gap to become even or has beaten the latter by up over 10% margin. The Delta Force, the RX 9070 XT is now 14% faster while in the CS2 and Spider-Man Remastered, the performance difference is as high as 23% and 27% respectively.

Overall, the RX 9070 XT gained a 9% boost on average at 1440p and 4% boost at 4K across 16 titles. The GPU now beats the RTX 5070 Ti by around 3% at 1440p and is equal to the latter at 4K. Considering the latest analysis, the Radeon RX 9070 XT not only beats the RTX 5070 Ti at an equal price tag but comes significantly ahead at their official MSRPs. However, these tests only consider the rasterization performance and the RTX 5070 Ti is still noticeably ahead in Ray Tracing benchmarks.

Nonetheless, the boost is incredible enough to recommend the RX 9070 XT at $599 and hopefullly, just as the RTX 5070 Ti is dropping in prices, the RX 9070 XT can come closer to its MSRP as well.
