Looks like scalpers got their hands on the CPU before regular users could, but hopefully this is just temporary.
Ryzen 7 5800X3D Appears on eBay for $500-$650 on the Launch Day as Scalpers Grab the Chip Before Everyone
Scalping a new product is nothing new, but it is certainly more common with a product that sees huge demand. Ryzen 7 5800X3D needs no introduction, and the 10th-anniversary edition is exactly what millions might be looking for when upgrading their older systems or building a new gaming PC from scratch.
However, just as the 10th Anniversary edition hit the shelves, it disappeared almost instantly. At most retailers, the CPU isn't widely available, and you will have a hard time finding one in stock. That said, this is the exact opportunity scalpers were waiting for. They buy the chips instantly before re-listing them on eBay and similar platforms.
Ryzen 7 5800X3D 10th Anniversary edition is suffering from the same problem. Instead of seeing a wide availability, the processor can be seen abundantly on eBay, getting listed for at least $500. This isn't the highest price, unfortunately, as one can see the processor sitting for as high as $600-$660 on the platform. Worse, people are actually buying them, as can be seen from the listing pages.

While many scalpers have used the stock Ryzen 7 5800X3D image, some have actually got their hands on the processors and have uploaded a real pic of the 10th Anniversary edition. There are currently countless such listings on the platform, showing how far we have come. Previously, we used to see newer flagship components getting scalped this easily. Still, the DRAM and SSD markets have made building a PC so difficult that scalpers are now reselling several-year-old hardware at much higher prices with ease.
Ryzen 7 5800X3D 10th Anniversary edition launched at $349, which is already a high price tag, considering we have Ryzen 7 7800X3D selling for the same price. 5800X3D has been re-engineered, though, and AMD knows there is no other alternative to 5800X3D on the AM4 platform, giving the company the flexibility to set a high price. Hopefully, the scalping is temporary, and users wanting to upgrade can easily get their hands on the re-released chip in the coming days.
