AMD Ryzen 5 2500U ‘Raven Ridge’ APU With Radeon Vega M Graphics Spotted In HP Envy x360 Listing, Clock Speeds Confirmed
AMD's upcoming Raven Ridge APU, the Ryzen 5 2500U has leaked once again in a listing by HP. The APU which will be utilizing the new Zen core architecture and Radeon Vega graphics is said to launch later this year, but this leak shows us what kind of products we can expect from AMD's launch.
AMD Ryzen 5 2500U Raven Ridge APU Leaks Once Again - Listed by HP, Features Zen Cores and Radeon Vega M Graphics
If you thought this was the first time we will be talking about the Ryzen 5 2500U APU, you were wrong. The chip has seen multiple leaks, from performance benchmarks in the AOTS database and Geekbench too. We know a lot about this chip, but there are a few extra details mentioned in the new leak which sound interesting.
First of all, we know that the Ryzen 5 2500U will be based on the Zen core architecture. It comes with four cores and eight threads, supporting clock speeds of 2 GHz base and 3.6 GHz burst. The burst frequency is just another name for Boost on AMD Mobility processors. The processor has 6 MB of cache on board. Since this is an APU, we are also getting an integrated GPU in the same package. This time, AMD is offering the Radeon Vega M Graphics that replaces GCN found on the older APUs.
There are no details on the graphics side itself but we know that a total of 11 Vega GPU cores are featured on Raven Ridge. This rounds up to 704 stream processors which is a nice increase over 512 cores on Bristol Ridge. These small Vega cores would help boost the performance of iGPU graphics processing on such chips.

Specifications of The HP Envy x360 Itself
The specifications for the HP Envy x360 laptop itself are interesting. Aside from packing the AMD Ryzen 5 2500U APU, the system packs 8 GB of DDR4 memory. The memory is clocked at 2400 MT/s and comes in single channel. There's support for up to 16 GB DDR4 memory but it isn't listed if that allows dual channel support. There's a 256 GB PCIe based NVMe M.2 SSD for storage which includes Microsoft's Windows 10 Home (64-bit) loaded on it.
In terms of audio, the system has a Bang & Olufsen speaker system with HP Audio Boost technology. The screen on the laptop is a 15.6" FHD IPS WLED-backlit display with multi-touch enabled and an edge-to-edge glass design. All of this comes in a 45W power package which means we are looking at a good and efficient design.
