The latest CPU market share results are in from Mercury Research and AMD has once again posted record share gains across its server, desktop & mobile lineups.
AMD's x86 CPU Market Share Hit Its Highest Record In Q4 2025, Server Takes The Biggest Slice
AMD has been gaining x86 market share steadily and during the previous quarter, it recorded its highest-ever market shares across the three segments, server, desktop, & mobile. The data from Mercury Research confirms this, and we are going to dive into the details.

Starting with the server side of things, AMD's unit share increased to 25.1% while its revenue share increased to 35.5%, a 0.9 and 2.0 point gain versus the previous quarter and a 1.6/3.7 point gain vs last year. This is thanks to increased EPYC sales and shipments to worldwide data centers. The company's EPYC Genoa and Bergamo servers are still rolling out while the latest Zen 5-based Turin CPUs are adding to that revenue.
For the mobile side, AMD's unit share increased to 23.7% and revenue increased to 21.6%, a 1.4/3.4 point gain versus the last quarter and a 2.4/6.5 gain versus the previous year. AMD's refreshed and new additions in the form of Strix AI have been pushing shipments well and the company is ending up with great momentum in the mobile segment.
Although the supply of Strix "Ryzen AI 300" APUs is still tight, there are plenty of refreshed chips such as Rembrandt, Phoenix, and Hawk which have been rolling out to the market in higher quantities and the respective products are positioned very competitively against Qualcomm's and Intel's offerings.
- Server revenue share increased 3.7% points Y/Y and 1.6% points Q/Q to a record 35.5%.
- Server unit share increased 2.0% points Y/Y and 0.9% points Q/Q.
- Client revenue share increased 8.4% points Y/Y and 2.1% points Q/Q to 23.8%.
- Client unit share increased 4.5% points Y/Y and 0.7% points Q/Q.
- Desktop revenue share increased 12.1% points Y/Y and 0.9% Q/Q.
- Mobile revenue share increased 6.5% points Y/Y and 2.4% points Q/Q.
- Client unit share increased 4.5% points Y/Y and 0.7% points Q/Q.
- Overall revenue share increased 6.7% points Y/Y and 1.8% points Q/Q to 28.2%.
- Overall unit share increased 4.3% points Y/Y and 0.7% points Q/Q.
Lastly, we have the desktop side of things, which saw the market share show a slight decline to 27.1%, but the company managed to retain a 27.3% revenue share. AMD's Ryzen 7 7800X3D and the Ryzen 7 9800X3D are some of the best-selling chips at all major retailers across the globe. The new Zen 5 lineup along with X3D and standard options within older Zen 4 and Zen 3 families are getting strong sales in both OEM and DIY markets.
After Intel's 13th and 14th Gen CPUs were hit with major "degrading" issues and the Arrow Lake-S lineup turned out to be lackluster, the market trend is inclined more toward CPUs from the red team, and we can expect even higher momentum in Q1 2025 once those numbers land in. Overall, the AMD x86 side looks very strong with record gains being posted every quarter and upcoming lineups only pushing those share figures up.
