AMD is expected to launch at least four GPU SKUs within its Navi 48 & Navi 44 powered RDNA 4 "Radeon RX 8000" family.
AMD's Navi 48 & Navi 44 "RDNA 4" GPUs To Get Two SKUs Each As Radeon RX 8000 Series Now Positioned At Mainstream Gamers
Yesterday, it was reported that AMD will be shifting the priority from the high-end and enthusiast GPU market segment to the more mainstream audience which is something that the company has tried in the past with its Polaris and first-Gen RDNA(1) family. As the recent RX 7000 didn't manage to get enough traction across most of the stack, the company has now confirmed its commitment towards mainstream users as they make up the bulk of the market.
We know so far that AMD has just two chips in plans for the RDNA 4 family, the bigger Navi 48 and the smaller Navi 44. Both of these chips will feature GDDR6 memory with speeds of up to 20 Gbps and it looks like there are more details on the SKUs featured within the lineup thanks to Benchlife.
AMD's plan for the RDNA 4 GPU architecture is actually very clear, namely Navi 48 and Navi 44. If it is further subdivided, Navi 48 will include R24D-E8, R24D-E6 and Navi 44's R25D. - Four products including P8 and R25D-P4 are in AMD's current planning.
In any case, at this stage, AMD's AIB partners have begun boot testing of Navi 48 and Navi 44 based on the RDNA 4 GPU architecture. Related products will also be introduced to you at CES 2025. Both the AMD RDNA 4 Navi 48 and Navi 44 GPUs will feature at least two SKUs, these include the following:
- Navi 48 SKU #1 - R24D-E8
- Navi 48 SKU #2 - R24D-E6
- Navi 44 SKU #1 - R25D-P8
- Navi 44 SKU #2 - R25D-P4
There are no details provided on what the exact specs or configurations for these four SKUs are but it is mentioned that AMD's AIB partners have already begun booting the first samples based on the Navi 48 and Navi 44 "RDNA 4" silicon within their labs and the respective products should be introduced by CES 2025 with a launch planned in the following months within the first quarter.
It will be interesting to see how AMD competes against its rivals as it will have to tackle two fronts, the Arc Battlemage GPUs from Intel which target a similar mainstream/high-end audience while NVIDIA brings out the Blackwell "RTX 50" heavyweights though the green team may either have to fast-forward a mid-range solution in the RTX 50 series or offer price-cuts on existing products to keep up the heat against new Intel and AMD launches in the mainstream segment as it's first line of products will be aimed at enthusiasts.
