A rather impressive The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess mod has been released in early access, adding online functionality to the game.

Created by 'Kirbymimi', this online/multiplayer mod initially started as a bug fix for the creator's multiplayer mod for Twilight Princess. This multiplayer mod allowed players to play the game locally in split-screen. According to the modder, this bug fix has evolved into a complete online mod for the Nintendo Gamecube version of the game. As expected, in order to use this mod, you'll need to own a copy of the Gamecube version and play the title using a Gamecube emulator.

In short, this online mod adds a LAN-style online mode, complete with new features, including new wolf colors, a chat box, console commands, and more. Through this mod, Twilight Princess is playable by up to 16 players, and it comes with both an enemy randomizer and a multiplier.

Down below we've included a trailer of this online mod for Twilight Princess in action. We're pretty sure that Zelda fans will appreciate it. As said, this mod is only for the Gamecube version of the game and doesn't work with the Wii or Wii U versions.

At the moment of writing, the Twilight Princess Online mod is available via early access for Patreons. Luckily, the modder intends to release the mod for free for everyone in Summer 2024. If you can, be sure to check out this impressive mod.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess was originally released for the Nintendo GameCube and Nintendo Wii as a cross-gen title in 2006. The game received an HD remaster for the Wii U in 2016. To date, fans are still waiting for a re-release of the game alongside The Wind Waker for the Nintendo Switch. We've included a part of the original press release from 2006 below:

"Once again we find ourselves in the mystical land of Hyrule. This time the land is threatened by the greatest danger it has faced yet and our hero must put his life as a cowboy behind him and set-out on an adventure which will take him to distant lands and parallel realms. Link is sent to bear a gift to the royal family of Hyrule but before he can leave, tragedy strikes the village and he is yanked into a twilight gloom that has covered Hyrule. When he enters that realm, he transforms into a wolf and is captured. A mysterious figure named Midna helps him break free. With the aid of her magic, they set off to free the land from the shadows."
