A19 Pro Rumored To Match Apple’s M4 Lineup In Single-Core Scores, But A Tipster Hints That It Will Not Achieve The Same Height In The Multi-Core Results And May Lose To The Competition

Tipster shares the estimated single-core and multi-core scores of the A19 Pro and they are beyond impressive

In the latest rumor, a tipster claims that the entire iPhone 17 lineup will be equipped with a high refresh rate OLED panel, also known as LTPO, despite the fact that the base model was previously said to feature a specifications downgrade with its A18 chipset and 8GB RAM. As for the A19 Pro, which will likely be exclusive to the ‘Pro’ models, the estimated single-core and multi-core scores have been shared, with the SoC’s performance numbers matching the M4’s in single-threaded workloads.

On Weibo, Digital Chat Station has posted a performance estimation of the A19 Pro, stating that the latter will obtain 4,000+ points in Geekbench 6s’ single-core test and 10,000+ points in the multi-core run. Compared to the A18 Pro, that is approximately a 15 percent improvement, meaning that the A19 Pro will pretty much match the M4 in single-core performance.

Then again, both the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 and Dimensity 9500 could achieve the same feat by supporting ARM’s Scalable Matrix Extension (SME) instruction set, which helps to tackle the more complex workloads more efficiently, leading to better single-core and multi-core scores. As for the estimated multi-core scores belonging to the A19 Pro, these are disappointing, because we have witnessed Xiaomi’s XRING 01 coming close to that 10,000 mark.

To achieve the high single-core score, the A19 Pro’s performance cores will likely be operating at increased clock speeds, but this time, both the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are rumored to be equipped with a vapor chamber cooler, which will aid in controlling the thermals of the SoC, leading to better sustained performance in other tests. As for the lower multi-core scores, Apple could be limiting the A19 Pro’s performance to target better efficiency.

While Qualcomm and MediaTek could be looking to set new records and bragging rights over the competition, the A19 Pro could operate more practically, especially when it is required to help deliver that ‘all-day’ battery to the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max.
