AMD is reportedly focusing on its next-gen RDNA 4 gaming GPUs instead of launching more RDNA 3 GPUs such as the recently rumored entry-level products.
AMD Steams Ahead RDNA 4 Gaming GPU Launch, RDNA 3 Entry-Level Launches Reportedly Canned
A few days ago, it was reported that we might see the launch of two brand new RDNA 3 GPUs, the Radeon RX 7400 & Radeon RX 7300. Both of these products were supposed to use Navi 33 chips & were designed for entry-level markets however based on new information from Benchlife, it looks like those plans have been scrapped.
Radeon RX 7400 and RX 7300 are currently not on the development list of any AIB partners. This is a fact that we know. As mentioned earlier, everyone is currently busy with the next generation of Radeon graphics cards based on the RDNA 4 GPU architecture.
It is stated by the source (citing industry sources) that none of AMD's AIB partners are currently developing any new RDNA 3 GPU, especially the Radeon RX 7400 and RX 7300. These products might have been on the production list a while ago but the plans have changed and AMD's AIBs now focus on the next-generation graphics architecture which is RDNA 4. Considering that AIBs usually launch products to serve the wider consumer market, there is a possibility that we might see some OEMs grab these orders for the pre-built PC desktops but outside of that, there won't be a lot of buzz around RDNA 3.
The forums do mention that everyone (AMD AIBs and AMD itself) is currently focused on the next-generation Radeon gaming graphics cards based on the RDNA 4 GPU architecture. Previous rumors pointed out that AMD plans to launch its RDNA 4 GPUs, presumably the Radeon RX 8000 series, by Q1 2025 so we can expect an announcement by CES 2025 and launch within the following months.
AMD's RDNA 4 GPUs will come in two main flavors, the Navi 48 and Navi 44 GPUs. Navi 48 is the high-end chip while Navi 44 is the mainstream chip. The lineup did include an enthusiast chip but that was scrapped too (Navi 4C/4X). As per the same rumors, the Navi 48 GPUs will match the Navi 31 GPU silicon in terms of performance while being priced around the $400-$500 US range while the Navi 44 chips should be around Navi 32 performance and pricing in the sub $350 US range.
AMD's last major launch was the Radeon RX 7600 XT which wasn't received well while the RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT before it received a lukewarm reception but the recent price cuts & discounts have made them a bit more competitive against NVIDIA's offerings. 2024 has been a dry year as far as Radeon GPU launches are concerned with NVIDIA kicking things off with its "Ada" SUPER series earlier in the year. The major updates for the Radeon team have been on the software side which lay the groundwork for next-gen RDNA 4 GPUs but we'll have to wait and see if AMD can see a turnaround with its future products as the Radeon Gaming division isn't doing very good at the moment.
