NVIDIA Unleashes the GeForce GTX 680MX and GTX 675MX Mobile GPUs

NVIDIA, the leading GPU manufacturer today announced new and much faster GeForce GTX 680MX and GTX 675MX graphic processing chips for the latest Apple iMac 2012.

Equipped with more and faster cores, the GeForce GTX 600MX notebook GPUs deliver premium performance with an enhanced power efficiency design. Following are the detailed specifications of NVIDIA’s new mobile GPUs:

GeForce GTX 680MX

The GeForce GTX 680MX becomes NVIDIA’s fastest mobile chip equipped with 1536 Cuda cores clocked at 720 MHz. The chip would support a GDDR5 memory interface clocked at 2500 MHz along a 256-bit interface. The new chip offers support for 3D Vision, 3DTV Play, CUDA, DirectX 11, PhysX, SLI, TXAA, Adaptive VSync, FXAA and can be 2-Way SLI’d.

GeForce GTX 675MX

The GeForce GTX 675MX features 960 Cores with a core clock maintained at 600 MHz able to churn out a texture fill rate of 48 Billion Texels/sec.  The chip would support a GDDR5 memory interface clocked at 1800 MHz along a 256-bit interface. The new chip offers support for 3D Vision, 3DTV Play, CUDA, DirectX 11, PhysX, SLI, TXAA, Adaptive VSync, FXAA and can be 2-Way SLI’d.

GeForce GTX 670MX

The GeForce GTX 675MX features 960 Cores with a core clock maintained at 600 MHz able to churn out a texture fill rate of 48 Billion Texels/sec.  The chip would support a GDDR5 memory interface although clocked at a lower frequency of 1400 MHz along a 256-bit interface. The new chip offers support for 3D Vision, 3DTV Play, CUDA, DirectX 11, PhysX, SLI, TXAA, Adaptive VSync, FXAA and can be 2-Way SLI’d.

Within Apple’s slim new 21.5- and 27-inch iMacs are NVIDIA GeForce GPUs, based on our new Kepler-class architecture, which helps make them up to 60 percent faster than last year’s models. This follows news in June that Apple’s 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display uses Kepler GeForce GPUs.

The new 27-inch iMac offers the GeForce GTX 660M as its base GPU, with even faster GeForce GTX 675MX or GeForce GTX 680MX GPUs available. The 21.5-inch model comes with the GeForce GT 640M GPU, with an available upgrade to the GeForce GT 650M GPU.
