I have noticed that this system actually misses some words, and they have to be manually corrected from the list, but otherwise, the system is fine. I hope this could be installed in Messaging softwares of cellphones and allow us to transmit messages in urgu script that were originally written using English alphabets!

actually when the ppl in my college ms student told in there presentation (i was absent ) that its going to be used for mobile fones in future. waisey its a google lab india project but afaik they did the urdu part.

Urdu is one of the major languages written and spoken in india..
most of their languages have script written as urdu, or share many alphabets.. so it was an easy no brainer for google i guess..

If they actually do it, it'll be good and interesting, it's not just mobile phones, it'll also help in DTP publishing, like newspapers and books, it'd be easier for people to type just in English alphabets rather than learning to type in Urdu alphabets using a US-Keyboard. It'll make the job easier and quicker! I tried writing in Urdu, and it's really difficult to remember that (for example, i do not remember exactly) T writes ٹ and Shift+t writes ت etc. It's even difficult to do with the symbols actually on the screen.

And to all, JedI is not Jaidi, it's Jedi from star wars!

the BEST reading i have Ever done in litterature, especiall funny, and Tanz-o-Mazah, is Urdu, .. there were such extreme talented writers before, they had /still have no competition..... urdu is such a rich language, it has words for those feelings, situations, relations, expressons, that no other lanhguage can ever muster up..

its a sad event that google translitterate is something we are all being happy about, when our govt./ local programmers, should have come up with it 5 years ago..
