is there any kind of internet service available in pak which doesnt have the ping/latency problem which all of the isp's have. what i mean is that all of the internet providers cant offer a service which offers even playable pings with international servers (in games etc.). the servers that we play on in pak are the ones hosted by the providers themselves so that doesnt count, yet there are some major lag issues on these servers aswell!
i talked to someone recently about this and i was told that it had to do with POP or point of presence. i dont know for sure but it is like a master server or something which connects all of pakistan to the rest of the worlds internet. It is the fact that there is only 1 of these for the whole of pakistan or region, like a choke point because of which we cant get good pings. does anyone know why this is the case. can we get other POPs for pakistan. Is there any possible way to bypass this problem. it is sad that we cant play games the way there supposed to online with rest of world. |

The POP (Point of Presence) is in India and the Middle East, as a result, you can't do much to avoid this problem. Short of a direct satellite link that beams into the continent of your choice, you can't avoid the high pings. The only thing you can do is to avoid peak times for Internet usage where you can get stable bandwidth to ensure a strong link to the foreign servers.
Pakistan was offered to become a POP back in the 80s and as late as 1996, however, our government rejected the offer without really thinking about the long term considerations. Deal with it would be the only way to cope. With the current security situation and poor infrastructure, no one will invest in Pakistan unless they like massive outages in their Internet. i'm done.

Satellite connections have even worse pings. Unless we get regional servers in Asia, pings will always be a problem. You can't expect to get descent pings to a server half way across the world whatever the bandwidth.

syed do u want to rent a satellite with me? jokes aside do u know anyone who has a satellite internet service. i thought i may have come across something like this. are the rates impossible? i heard of some of pakistans banks coming together to finance a POP some time ago. maybe the 96 thing ur talking about. if india's a Pop why do they have useless pings too?
