AFAIK, wateen is planning to launch the WiMax (wireless) service in Karachi only (world's largest, hotspot(?)). They will provide DSL/Cable in other 5 big cities (dunno when, maybe in the end of 2006 or in 2007, the country-wide fiber optic has been layed).

dont expect any lower tariff.. PTCL has no plans to decrease the cost of intl./domestic bandwidth, but instead they are planning to increase the price (thanks to the Sheikhs (etisalat))

Good link bro but what do you actually expect out of Wateen because Warid came out with a storm and actually is providing service better than expected.

As far as I know, anything under 256kbps is not considered as a broadband. So I am expecting atleast a 2566kbps connection but within a Rs. 1000 price point.

in Pakistan, 128kpbs and higher is considered as broadband (officially). 256kbps is international standard..
