wateen already has almost blanket coverage in all major cities... there are some issues which are needed to be taken care of before the launch...
do you work for wateen and if yes what would be the tariff like? if you dont how can you say that they will give cpe to those who register its not mentioned on their website now in in the ad

Well these deep pockets soon gona be empty if the calculations of Jatson are correct

By the way whoever gets that "free" CPE, do post here so we know for sure that its not hoax and company is infact insane to do this ;-)

crippler, my company using wateen's data services and my elder brother is in Motorola Pakistan thats why i know little about wateen and guys recently wateen replaced their CPE in my company one which works on fixed wimax with mobile wimax (802.16e) and as far as data services are concern wateen is the most economical and advance in current market and hope same for consumer sector.

till now over 500 customers have already got free cpes...without even launch... thats another story that they were in the trials of wimax

hey guys here the latest from PTA

ISLAMABAD (August 10 2007): the PTA chairman said cellular subscribers' base would go up to 100 million in next few years from present 65 million as all the mobile phone companies are expanding their networks. Answering questions, he dismissed the expression that the mobile towers were posing any threat to the human health.

He said that WiMax Service, a high-speed wireless telephone and Internet facility, would be launched nation wide next month for first time in the country. "The infrastructure has been developed for Wimax Service in Pakistan as Wireless Local Loop (WLL) license holders in 3.5 GHz frequency have now established their own networks using WiMax technology after issuance of commencement certificates by the authority," he added.

The authority, he said has issued the certificates to Buraq Telecom, Wateen Telecom and MyTel to start their operations across the country from next month.

The rest of the WLL operators holding spectrum in the 3.5 GHz were also in the planning stage while DV Com was also holding WLL license in all 14 telecom regions, he said. The mobile operators such as Mobilink are also expected to join the WiMax market in the future.

China's ZTE Corp has built a pre-WiMax trial network comprising one six-sector Base Transceiver Station (BTS) and 17 CPEs (Customer Premises Equipment) for telecard.

The infrastructure put in place by various companies is a milestone in the spread of WiMax, super fast wireless technology that has a range of up to 30 miles and can deliver broadband at a theoretical maximum speed of 75 megabits per second.
