Default FAN Grill Cut-away?

Does cutting away fan grills, really make a considerable difference?

Ive got a unmodded 690, that I want to improve and not just fancy up.

I have 3 fans outake, and 4 fans intake. so those are quite alot of grills.

if u have more intake fans than exhaust fans, u're actually building up hot air in the case.

think about it. the case can take in more air than it can vent. hot air would build up.

get a really powerful exhaust fan and maybe one or two intake fans

i have stacker 830, and i am using ONLY one 130 cfm exhasut fan, no in take fans at all. i got this fan locally from Hafeez center for about 500.

i do have better than average cooling on my cpu (TRU-120). i dont find temperature improving much if i put intake fans. taking the front grills out improves temps much more than intake fans, but it creates a dust bowl as well.

Hmm Hafeez Center. I really ought to make a visit.

Im from Islamabad.

Ill exclude the PS outtake (The CM690 has that at the bottom, sucks air from down below....) I doubt it would be wise to place the PS Upside down, What do you guys say?

So the out takes are ... Two 80 MM fans up top. Standard. I guess a paltry 20cfm.
and one 120 mm CM 35 cfm out take at the back.

In takes are a CM 120 mm upfront, but I doubt it does much other than keep the HDDs slightly cool (perhaps not even that). Reason would be the HDD tray is side-load. So that fan is hitting a sheet of preforated steel.

One intake down below, because there was a space.

Two 120mm intakes at the sides.

I cant figure out what to do with the side ones. My graphics card expells hot air to the side, loads of it. At present Im blowing cold air ON it. (Im hoping that the hot air will rise and be expelled from the gril itself or the 2 80 mms)
The other side fan is throwing air ONTO the proc, that makes complete sense. Aides the stock cooling HSF.

Oh I cant post temps at the moment, my PSU (CM ULTIMATE 700) went bust on me. Warranty. Getting a replacement sometime next week.

Would it make sense to install the PS upside down.. aided exhaust?

I doubt it would make sense to putting an intake, and an outtake on the side panel? Or can that be done, Intake on the proc, outtake from the card. Card vent it below proc, so thats like creating a cycle.

What about getting high CFM fans uptop. Hot air rises, and i could have hoovers :P waiting for it.. and then slowly pulling it out.

My problem is mainly caused by..... 9800GX2. The dang thing runs TOO warm.
That and my PC is in a rather sunny room (two windows ) on the first floor (no shelter above ) so... its a pretty cosy :P place. I do turn on the AC when sitting there for a while though, but my PC is always on..

Yeah, i sold that to you :P

In that case, any idea where to get a HIGH air flow fan in isb ?

Im actually running a 9800 GX2, 4 HDD's ( If i can somehow get the data on 2 x 1 TBs ) ill be a happy camper.

My friend gave me a suggestion. Get one from the UPS makers. They use high airflow fans with a relay built in. Hmm.

yes teh grill cutting really helps....tried and experimented with

if u want help with the airflow in the CM 690 SEARCH for my threads in this section...u will find those very helpfull...trust me..

for example this...

Latest MODS to the cm 690 (Window mod...and Acoustics mod)

also i would suggest that u burn off the MESH from the air filters..and use the bottom filter to put a fan in the 5.25 " bays...( u need 3 free bays )

also u can cut off the plastic honeycomb stuff that is upfront and at top...it really helps with sound dampening and much better airflow...

Hope this helps ya...if it does feel free to rep me

Okay so took out the mesh in the front.
Uses cable ties to place an extrafan in 2 spare 3.5 bays.

Everest temps at idle are as follows:
