So you give up only after one day. Wonder what will happen if you were actually running a website, maintaining that particular website daily. Paying hosting charges monthly, not making any money or just a little so that you can bear site’s own expenses, trying to adjust your personal time and priorities and to make it more fun you have to tolerate people like Dr.Farhan….

Do you have any idea how much time and resources such a website can take? And you are planning to put that many resources and time with no intentions of making money? It will be a matter of days before you lose interest, for the reason that if it succeeds, going through the moderation and maintenance stuff is going to take a hell lot of time (we are talking about a website of eBay standards) … and if it fails … well then Nada. Second, the kind of security system and personal details you are talking about would surely scare them away … plus you'll find yourself caught in so many disputes, complains and even serious claims coming from both buyers and sellers … that's too much fuss and the fact that you are not really planning to earn out of it … makes it even more unworkable.

its not about giving up after one day , i try to do something good and i get bad attitude from the very people i am trying to help ... the web hosting and other expenses was mine and my friends headaches not your was it ? the point is i as an individual try to do something for the better of my country and help it but instead all i get is badgered and useless and not the least bit helpful comments ... friends on msn who are in the uk were more helpful to me they gave me a 100 ideas for the site but unfortunately i saw the attitude that you guys are comfortable with taking a gambit when buying / selling online so i figure why should i waste my time money and energy on providing a service you GREAT AND ALMIGHT PAKISTANIS already have ? ... and please i have dealt with people far worse then dr farhan , i was ready to give my time , money and energy for the benefit of my country but instead i get sand thrown in my face with people saying " we dont need a secure online buying site , fail site , omg lol stupid idea " at least i am trying to help others out but i might aswell give up hope on ever helping this country again ... its not only this forum , on PG i just ask if i can make a thread WITH THE MODS PERMISSION and i even said if its not okay with you guys i wont make it but instead my thread gets shut down ... this is what you people with people like me , people who try to help the community end up getting screwed and they learn their efforts are a waste ... how can u call this country GREAT if you can't appreciate the people who are trying to make it a better place ? ...

If you are in fact trying to do something 'good' for your country and your countrymen, you should do it regardless of what others tell you. If you'll stop following your dreams or aspirations just because some people ridiculed you, you'll never be able to achieve your goals.

Keep your focus on to your goal, everything else stands secondary. As for people's comments, if you're choosing to make your idea and thoughts public, then always be ready to face criticism. And you should be brave enough to stand it and accept where you're wrong, and stand by your decision where you deem yourself right.

Also, please keep in mind that there is a very fine line between being proactive about 'Online safety' and actually going paranoid about it. Your idea about getting people's NICs, Utility bills is flawed simply because it's just too much information, for a simple online sales.

Ebay, which you draw your inspiration from, does not ask for such details. It leaves the decision on to the seller / buyer themselves as to whether or not they want to go ahead with a deal. You'll have to trust people with their own online security, and can't act like a guardian angel, all the time.

PASHA had a conference about this concept at LUMS a while back. This was an issue, and simply put, no one could work around it. Primarily the main reasons were, security and legal requirements, it was a moot point. Since your courts are not litigative friendly, I can't get damages for the defective product I spent money for. Your banks are not geared for online processing or verifying transactions. You have massive data theft from your financial institutions as it is. Regardless of how secure you keep information, it is virtually impossible to guarantee it at a later processing stage. Eventually you're going to have to hand it over to a bank for processing, etc.

Kursed's point of excessive data for a simple sale is relevant, and secondly, the fact that an electrical bill and an outdated CNIC is pointless. The address on the CNIC almost is never reflective of where an individual is living and if you live in a rented building the owner/tenant names will not match, therefore you cannot track/sue them. Your legal system is pointless because if I want to sue someone, I sure as hell need to bribe someone to make sure I get my stuff back.

Thirdly, you know how Pakistan operates. Almost any goods being sold are often re-touched and branded as new, etc. Although you may leave the agreement between the seller and buyer, your website name will be tarnished. Considering you're trying to run this as a non-profit organization, you will have no ability to do damage control. You have no revenue stream so that at least you can get sponsors on board to support you, the banks will not come near you, people will be scared off, and it'll be a fantastic waste of time and effort.

Again, this is not to humiliate you or anything. If you want to be a budding entrepreneur you have got to think these things through. There's no clear outlined plan for growth or sustainability, you're going to need multiple focus groups and support of the financial institutions here to make a difference. You need to show how you plan on re-educating the masses to accept online selling as a viable alternative to traditional selling/buying sections of forums, etc.

Putting it simply, if I was a serious investor, I'd ask almost ALL of these questions and grill you 400 times before handing over any money or support, regardless of how you plan to run this idea as a non-profit/profit organization.

Come up with a succinct process design and concept, and I doubt anyone will mock you for it.

Are u having ur periods son? Someone who actually wants to do something for the "Country" would not be discouraged by what a few people think but rather set an example and show them how its done. Now you dont have the commitment it takes (like me) do complete such a project and should admit it rather than saying shit about our country.
