err... ur not supposed to do as the manual says..

the colour coding is to make it easier to dual channel..

so ur RAMs should be either both on green.. or both or on orange..

To make Dual Channel work, try the following combinations:

Case A:-

Memory Bank 1:

RAM SLOT 1 (Green) (Place 1 GB RAM Stick here)
RAM SLOT 2 (Green)

Memory Bank 2:

RAM SLOT 3 (ORANGE) (Place 1 GB RAM Stick here)
RAM SLOT 4 (ORANGE)

Case B:-

Memory Bank 1:

RAM SLOT 1 (Green)
RAM SLOT 2 (Green)
(Place 1 GB RAM Stick here)

Memory Bank 2:

RAM SLOT 3 (ORANGE)
RAM SLOT 4 (ORANGE)
(Place 1 GB RAM Stick here)

Regarding CPU-Z:

Try the latest version of CPU-Z, which is 1.42 and is currently the best version.

this already happened with my friend ....
to make 2 stick of 1gb in dual channel .... u should have a 2*1gb twin dual channel kit .... which are only made for dual channel and are NOW Available at GALAXY...Pakistan's Leading Computer Store...Home , the corsair XMS TWIN KIT , ( not the XMS CM ) and XMS DOMINATOR .

to run 512mb stick in dual channel .... no twin kit is required and any module of the same company will run .... in Dual Channel ....

above 1gb .... for dual channel .... Twin Kit are ur only hope
or 4*512MB stick modules ....

Peace & ciao !!!

The samething happened to my friend last year .... he made a 1.2lac pc form nofal computers .... back then there was no sign of the dual channel kit .... so we went with the same solution .... increase it to 3gb .... coz if u are so desperate for dual channel .... then 4*512MB was the choice .... but then no future for increase the further .... coz only 4 slots ....

Peace & ciao !!!

Check here and read the red highlights. Go to Crucial and get the specs for your memory and manually set the vDIMM voltage and timings in your BIOS, rather than relying on your motherboard to auto-detect.

These settings appear to be 5-5-5-15, 1.8v You may try increasing voltage to 2.0v

1. which mobo is it? brand and model. not all mobos have dual channel memory support.

2. Hitman, it is not necessary to get a dual-channel kit in order to have memory run in dual channel mode. you can use any type of memory, even kingston value ram. but it should be the exact same (model, speed, capacity, single/double sided).

i have already gone through this on a msi k8n neo 4 platinum .... the tried all models of corsair available .... even the same ones where not show it .... even Kingston refused to accept the dual channel capabilities .
maybe the mobo was screwed .... but that part of my story ....

Peace & ciao !!!

darklord, I read your article and

As a consequence, you need two memory modules, but the benefit is noticeably higher performance.

Good idea, but often I post a possible solution if previous suggested solutions don't pan out. Different ideas also stimulate thinking along different lines.
