The highly anticipated The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will be the first Nintendo first-party Switch title to cost 70$, but this won't necessarily be the case for all games from the Japanese company moving forward.
Speaking with Game Informer, a Nintendo representative confirmed that the company determines the suggested retail price on a case-by-case basis and that a 70$ price tag won't be a trend moving forward.
On the reasoning for the $69.99 price tag for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom:
"We determine the suggested retail price for any Nintendo product on a case-by-case basis."
On if this is the trend for Nintendo titles going forward:
"No. We determine the suggested retail price for any Nintendo product on a case-by-case basis."
During yesterday's Nintendo Direct, the Japanese company did not just confirm The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom's price tag, but also showed more of its upcoming open-world game, which will allow players to explore Hyrule's underground and skies and construct vehicles for improved traversal.
