Xiaomi Will Be Launching the POCO F1 as Part of Its POCOPHONE Lineup on August 22 – Snapdragon 845 & Liquid Cooling Solution in Tow
The POCO F1, which is the first phone from Xiaom’s sub-brand POCO, or POCOPHONE will officially be revealed on August 22. The rising Chinese tech star aims to target a larger set of audience with the new brand and there is even a possibility that the company might not have to experience complications when it comes to shipping the flagship in several countries.
Unfortunately, the POCO F1 Might Be Limited to a Single Country, at First
POCO India’s Twitter account revealed the unveiling date of the POCO F1. A leaked picture which reportedly shows the label from the retail box of the phone has uncovered that the POCO F1 will be powered by the Snapdragon 845 chipset. The label also unearthed the fact that the device will feature a rear dual-camera system.
The camera will also have AI capabilities and hopefully, a Portrait Mode might become a part of the software, just like what came with the Mi 8. The label also revealed that the front camera will be a 20MP shooter, the battery will have a capacity of 4,000mAh, and the phone will also have a liquid cooling system, which is going to be ideal when you want the processor to run at its maximum frequency without throttling.
Additionally, the upcoming flagship will have 6GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage and will be running the Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI update. It may also have some other spruced up features to differentiate itself from the existing range.

Just like the Mi 8, the smartphone is rumoured to come with a notch and a facial recognition system. According to a listing posted by a Romanian retailer PC Garage, the rear cameras of the POCO F1 will be 15MP and 5MP. The listing has been taken down since. However, in addition to revealing camera specs, the listing also said that the phone will retail for $489 USD after a discount of $73.
The FCC approved the POCOPHONE brand back in July and the listing revealed that the phone will be packing a 6.4-inch screen with reduced bezels, meaning a lot of screen real estate in return. There were some speculations that the creation of a new brand is a new strategy from Xiaomi to enter the U.S. market and sell devices according to the rules set by the country government. It is yet to be seen if the POCO F1 coming to the U.S. will materialize, but for now, the POCO F1 is exclusive to the Indian market, with the launch expected to take place in New Dehli.
