Xiaomi Mi7 Code-named As ‘Dipper’ Pops Up On GeekBench; Features Snapdragon 845, 6GB RAM And Impressive Score
As opposed to 2017, things are moving slow this year for flagship smartphones. After a lot of upgrades last year, companies will take it slow now. The latest example for this trend are Samsung's Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+. The pair feature impressive performance upgrades, which is expected, but do not add any new features. Likewise, other mainstream flagships will not upgrade drastically either, the reason being that there are literally no upgrades available for market implementation.
This leaves the ground open for companies which are unable to fully make their mark in the high-end bracket. One of these, is Xiaomi. We're seeing a lot of rumors for the company's upcoming smartphones. Today, what just might represent the Xiaomi Mi7 pops up on GeekBench. Take a look below for the details.
Xiaomi 'Dipper' A.K.A Mi7 Surfaces On GeekBench; Features Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845, 6GB RAM And An Impressive Score Which Matches Samsung's Galaxy S9+
While we're still skeptical, a lot of evidence on the rumor mill points towards an interesting smartphone race this year. After Apple moved away from traditional flagships by introducing True Depth, looks like Xiaomi is eager to provide Samsung with stiff competition. The Mix 2s is a regular feature on both the rumor mill and Xiaomi's Weibo. The gist of things so far suggests that the smartphone will feature a lot of upgrades over its predecessor.
However, as impressive as the Mix 2s sounds, it will not be the only smartphone launch from Xiaomi. The company's true flagship gadget lineup is the Mi(X). It's due an upgrade, and true to form, we're seeing several leaks related to the Mix7 take place recently. These suggest that the smartphone will feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845 and 6GB RAM. Today, a GeekBench listing for Xiaomi 'Dipper' corroborates these details.
The image above provides a nice update for Xiaomi's 2018 flagship smartphone. In addition to the aforementioned features, the Mi7 will also feature a 128GB internal storage variant. Against all hope, 8GB of RAM will make it on this particular device. If true, then expect things to get really interesting in the year's second half; for if these specifications provide a strong performance edge to Xiaomi's devices, then Samsung might make some big changes on the Note9.
Of course, at this point, all this talk is little more than speculation. It'll take time for the rumor mill to build up on specifications related to Xiaomi's Mi7. At the moment, we've got the Mix 2s coming up in 15 days. This smartphone will set the pace for Xiaomi's remaining devices in 2018, and right now, we've got reasonably optimistic expectations from it. Thoughts?
