The Nintendo Switch 2 is cementing its status as the system to get to enjoy the best JRPGs. During today’s Nintendo Direct, developer Monolith Soft confirmed not only that the entire Xenoblade Chronicles trilogy is making the jump to the new hardware with significant enhancements, but also unveiled a brand-new entry in the series arriving in 2027.
Xenoblade Genesis Marks a New Beginning
The next major project from Monolith Soft is titled Xenoblade Genesis. Scheduled for a 2027 release on Nintendo Switch 2, this entry appears to move away from the established universe of the previous trilogy to explore a brand-new world. The reveal trailer showcased an expansive setting - confirmed to be called Leukos - sporting a distinct, massive ring-world aesthetic. Early footage suggests a military academy-themed narrative that promises to shift the series’ signature gameplay loop significantly.
