Ubisoft San Francisco may be targeting late October for the launch of XDefiant. The rumor originated from Call of Duty insider TheMW2Ghost, who reportedly heard about a launch event scheduled for October 28th. That is a Saturday, so it is unlikely it would be selected as the game's launch date, but it is possible the event follows a release on Friday, October 27th.

Tom Henderson also heard the same date, so there might indeed be some truth to it. Last we heard from Ubisoft San Francisco, the team was targeting early or mid-October, according to Executive Producer Mark Rubin:

At the end of July, we started this process, and we got our first results back by mid-August, which was a Not Pass. We realized then that we had more work related to compliance than we had anticipated. If it HAD passed, then we would have been able to ship at the end of Aug. But it didn’t and so we have spent the last 3-4 weeks fixing those issues and getting ready to do another submission. We are currently in the CM prep part of that process and will hopefully be submitting to 1st parties in a little less than two weeks. If that Passes cleanly, then we could be looking at a mid-to-end September release. There is, however, a likely scenario where we get a conditional Pass, meaning we have to do a Day 1 patch with some final fixes to ensure compliance. If we do need to do a Day 1 patch, then that pushes our date out to early/mid-October.

XDefiant is a free-to-play Call of Duty-like first-person shooter game. It was formally announced in July 2021 and testing began shortly after that. The game's main twist is the usage of factions from various Ubisoft franchises, such as Wolves (from Ghost Recon), Echelon (from Splinter Cell), the Cleaners (from The Division), Libertad (from Far Cry 6), and Dedsec (from Watch Dogs). Factions work like classes and can be swapped at any time when respawning.
