XCOM 2 Gets Controller Support on PC & Co-Op via Mod

Nov 8, 2016 at 03:14pm EST

Another tool for your arsenal, Commander. 2K and Firaxis Games just announced that XCOM 2 on PC is now fully playable with a controller.

Along with the controller support, players can also tour their ship using a first-person camera. The XCOM blog lays out the process step by step in order to set the camera where you can walk the interior of the Avenger and have a beer with your comrades.

There are two ways to go about this with involving going into developer debug mode:

The Quick Method: for those that want to get up and running right away.

Installing XCOM 2 Mod Tools: for those that want to dive deeper into the tools and play with a few more developer toys.

There's more, though. You might remember that some time ago a group of modders announced that they would be working on a co-op mod for XCOM 2; well, it finally works. Tactical Co-Op is now available on Steam Workshop and allows you to play with a friend, though the makers are working to expand the group size to allow 12-player co-op. The mod in question is not compatible with Ironman mode or any missions with turn timer.

XCOM 2 is out now on PC, PlayStation and Xbox One. Make sure to read our PC review for the turn-based strategy game. As an added treat, the second video below can be viewed in 360° or in VR if you have the appropriate headset. It takes you on a tour through the Avenger and ends with you taking a seat on Sky Ranger.
