Last week, several retailers, including Amazon Spain, started listing the Xbox One S console with an August 2nd release date. A few hours ago, Microsoft confirmed the console's official release date for all regions.

On his official website, Major Nelson finally confirmed that the Xbox One S 2TB rumored release date is indeed the real one. The console will start hitting shelves in select regions on August 2nd, meaning that all pre-orders will arrive on release day. Major Nelson also suggests to pre-order the console as soon as possible, as availability is limited and demand high.

The Xbox One S, which has been revealed last month during the E3, will be smaller compared to the original Xbox One model and it will include plenty of new features.

Beyond the fresh new design, Xbox One S is the first and only console that allows you to watch Blu-ray movies and stream video in stunning 4K Ultra HD with HDR. That means you’ll get to enjoy your favorite shows and movies in the clearest, most realistic video possible. With High Dynamic Range (HDR) support for video and gaming, Xbox One games like Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3, and Scalebound will look even better thanks to a higher contrast ratio between lights and darks, bringing out the true visual depth of your favorite games.

Alongside the Xbox One S, Microsoft will also launch the new Xbox Wireless Controller, which will feature a textured grip, improved wireless signal and added Bluetooth support.

The Xbox One S 2TB launches on August 2nd in select regions. Release dates for the 1TB and 500GB variants have yet to be confirmed, but we will let you know more about the matter as soon as possible.
