Preorders for Battle for Azeroth, World of Warcraft’s upcoming seventh expansion, are strong and ahead of plan.

That’s what Activision Blizzard executives Michael ‘Mike’ Morhaime, Robert A. ‘Bobby’ Kotick, and Collister "Coddy" Johnson said during the company’s most recent financial earnings call with investors.

“World of Warcraft is on a very positive trajectory, with strong presales for the upcoming expansion content”, Kotick said during the opening of the conference call.

Johnson added that preorders for World of Warcraft’s next expansion are currently higher than anticipated. “The next expansion, Battle for Azeroth, launches worldwide on August 14 and is already off to a great start, with preorders ahead of plan”, he said.

In the conference call’s Q&A session, Blizzard’s president and co-founder Morhaime was asked about the upcoming expansion in terms of expected engagement and World of Warcraft usage.

“Battle for Azeroth is our next expansion”, Morhaime answered. “And at Blizzard, we're really excited about this expansion. It's coming along great. And it looks like our players are also very excited about it. As Coddy mentioned, our presales are ahead of plan. As always, this expansion features some exciting new features. I'm just going to mention a couple of them that we're particularly excited about. Island Expeditions, where players will explore unchartered islands that include randomly generated elements, we've built AI that will give players a different experience every time they visit an island, and that's to create a highly dynamic experience.”
