LG begins bringing the proprietary Primary RGB Tandem technology to the mainstream market, starting with China, which received the first-ever Tandem OLED gaming monitor.
LG Launches UltraGear 27GX700A, Which Delivers 355 Nits of Full Screen Brightness And Up To 1500 Nits of Peak Brightness for Incredible Visual Clarity
From regular LCD to OLED panels, gaming monitors have come a long way, but with limited brightness levels on the OLED panels, monitor makers have been tackling the problem for years. LG came up with an excellent solution recently, which is called the Primary RGB Tandem technology. At the end of June this year, LG announced that it had started mass production of Tandem OLED displays, which will offer a big boost in brightness and contrast compared to the regular OLED panel.

One of the first monitors to receive the Tandem OLED panel is the UltraGear 27GX700A, which was showcased a few weeks back but didn't launch for retail till today. However, the monitor has been finally launched in China and should be available in other parts of the world soon. The UltraGear 27GX700A delivers the Primary RGB Tandem technology, which uses four layers of RGB stacks, enhancing the brightness significantly. Two of these are Blue layers, while the other two are Green and Red ones, unlike the regular OLED, which uses a single multi-color organic layer.

With the Primary RGB Tandem technology, the UltraGear 27GX700A can achieve brightness of up to 355 nits in full screen but can reach up to 1500 nits at peak brightness, which is 500 nits higher than the regular OLED. This offers improved clarity and even better brightness, making the 27GX700A an excellent gaming monitor even in well-lit rooms. The 27GX700A will be a high-end gaming monitor but won't compete with the flagship OLED offerings, which run at 480Hz. Instead, it will be capped at 280Hz at 2K resolution, which is still excellent for fast-paced as well as immersive gaming experiences.

Since the monitor will offer the best brightness and contrast levels, it will ship with various certifications, including Perfect Black, Perfect Color, and 100% Color Fidelity, as it is able to offer a 99.5% color reproduction rate. The report suggests that it will be 60% brighter than regular OLED panels and will also ship with HDR True Black 500 certification. As far as the connectivity is concerned, it's going to feature the DP 1.4 port, which should be fine for this 2K/280Hz, but for upcoming 4K high refresh rate Tandem OLED displays, we expect DP 2.1 at the minimum.
We don't have the information about its price yet, but we will update you as soon as we receive the information.
Update: As per IT Home, the UltraGear 27GX700A launched for 3679 Yuan, which is equivalent to US$510.
