Given the nature of my job, I use WhatsApp for Windows a lot more than I do on my phone, and for the most part, it provides the same experience. However, there is one thing that annoys me a lot, and that is the text-to-emoji feature. Which essentially turns your text into a suitable emoji depending on whether or not it fits that code.
WhatsApp for Windows will finally let you type without your text turning into emojis
Well, it is good news that this annoying feature is finally going away on WhatsApp for Windows. This was spotted by folks over at WaBetaInfo, and what this new addition does is give you a toggle that you can actually use to turn off the text-to-emoji feature. Have a look at the screenshot below:
Do keep in mind that the feature is currently only specific to WhatsApp beta for Windows 2.2350.3.0 and isn't rolling out to stable channels, but considering how it has started rolling out to select beta users, it should not take a lot of time before it is available to everyone else, as well.
WhatsApp keeps adding new features to both the Windows version as well as other versions on other platforms. So, if you are looking to update, you can go ahead and check out when the feature is finally available through a stable channel.
Honestly, it might look like a very small feature, but for me, it is very useful, and as someone who uses WhatsApp on Windows all the time, I think this feature is something that should have been a part of the app for the longest time as it makes the whole experience a lot easier and you can actually just type away without having to worry about your texts turning into an emoji. It's a very simple addition but something that is definitely welcomed.
