WhatsApp For Android Could Soon Convert Voice Messages Into Texts

WhatsApp Chat and Data Transfer From Android to iPhone

WhatsApp is one of the best messaging apps that you can find, and one of the most useful as well as annoying features is the voice notes. I mean, don't get me wrong, they are very handy, but some people have really no idea how to send voice notes and treat them like phone calls. I have received voice notes that have lasted longer than a normal phone call, which is not ideal. Thankfully, it appears that the platform is working on bringing a feature that would convert these voice notes into text messages.

WhatsApp's ability to convert voice notes into text is something that should have been a part of the app from the beginning

WABetaInfo spotted the feature for WhatsApp on iOS and then on Android. The feature is currently available on  (version 2.24.7.8)  and lets you convert voice messages. This is a very convenient feature and would save you a lot of time if you are not in the mood to listen to voice messages. I don't like it when people communicate via voice messages, so I believe this feature will work well.

As you can see in the screenshot above, WhatsApp for Android could get this feature very soon. The screenshot talks about how the messaging app is going to notify you when the feature is available. The description reads, Read before you listen with transcripts.” According to it, “To enable transcripts, 150MB of new app data will be downloaded," and “WhatsApp uses your device’s speech recognition to provide end-to-end encrypted transcripts." For the feature to work, you will need to download the required resources, and once they are ready, you will be able to use this feature seamlessly.

Sadly, at the moment, we don't know when WhatsApp will be rolling this feature on the stable channel, but considering how it is now spotted in the beta version, I cannot wait for it to be available so I can start using it. I believe this feature should have been at the core of the app, but hey, it is better late than never.
