Vivo X100 Ultra Goes Official with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and an Insane 200-Megapixel Periscope Camera

Vivo has never been a company stranger to innovation and robust smartphones. The Vivo X100 series is among the best, and today, the company has made it even better with the announcement of the Vivo X100 Ultra. That is the company saying that we can do better than you thought, and honestly, it is one of the most impressive smartphones I have seen in some time. As a budding photographer, I believe this phone is the one you should be going for if you want to take amazing pictures on top of a great smartphone experience.

Now, the Vivo X100 Ultra is not just good with its cameras on the back, it also brings everything that you would want in a flagship phone. The phone is powered by the mighty Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and has a gorgeous 6.78-inch 120Hz display on the front, a 5,500 mAh battery, as well as 80W wired and 30W wireless charging. The phone also uses an ultrasonic fingerprint reader, offers both IP69 and IP68 ratings, and has Mac support.

Now, the specs at hand might make the Vivo X100 Ultra look like a standard flagship, but that is pretty far from the truth because if you are looking for a true flagship, then that is what this phone aims to be. On the back, you get a pretty new camera system that includes a massive 200-megapixel 3.7x  telephoto camera. Vivo claims that this camera can deliver good image quality up to 20x, and the camera also has CIPA 4.5 stabilization.

The Vivo X100 Ultra also comes with support for the Telephoto Stage feature, which is best for concerts. This feature allows a better 10x to 30x output, better image quality thanks to the V3+ imaging chip, and better audio. The telephoto lens also supports macro mode up to 20x and higher-resolution portraits if you are looking to get those.

With the Vivo X100 Ultra, the company has ensured that the overall camera system is balanced and better than anything else you get in the market. The main camera sensor on the phone is the 50-megapixel Sony LYT-900 with improved stabilization. You are also getting a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-600 sensor that is taking on the ultrawide responsibilities. All the lenses on the back come with Zeiss T* coating, which helps drastically when it comes to dealing with glare. On the front, you are getting a 50-megapixel camera that will deliver stunning images.

Vivo boasts that the X100 Ultra is a smartphone made for photographers because it brings several features such as 4K cinematic portrait video, there is also 4K/120FPS slow-motion video, 4K/60FPS Dolby vision video, a new monochrome color profile, 3D photo, and video capture, as well as a new mode that is called underwater photography. Vivo talks about how the phone cameras are optimized to easily take on the challenge that photographers face when they are underwater. The company also talks about how the phone can easily shoot underwater down to 40 meters without needing a diving case.

As far as the pricing and availability are concerned, the Vivo X100 Ultra is now available for  6,499 yuan (~$898) for the 12GB/256GB model. You can upgrade to the 16/512GB model for 7,299 yuan (~$1,009), and if you have been feeling fancy, you can also go for the 16GB/1TB model for 7,999 yuan (~$1,106). Sadly, the phone will not be released outside China at the moment, as the company has confirmed to us.
