Vision Pro Recovery Process will be handled by the iPhone visionOS

Apple is ready to launch the Vision Pro tomorrow, and the industry has high expectations from the headset. The device is Apple's first major product launch after the launch of the Apple Watch back in 2015. For the first time, the company is stepping into the virtual reality category, which will become part of the company's ecosystem. While the company did face production challenges, the pressure is now on developers to make visionOS feel like home. We are now hearing that users will require an iPhone for visionOS recovery in case the Vision Pro headset's operating system becomes faulty.

Apple's Vision Pro recovery process is the same as the Apple Watch and Apple TV as it does not feature a USB-C port

visionOS has been in the development phase for a while, and the company is working to create proper use cases for the Vision Pro. visionOS gives a very Apple-like experience with apps and features ported from the iPhone, Mac, and iPad. Some users have been wondering how the Vision Pro's firmware recovery process works. As it turns out, you need an iPhone to perform a software recovery on the Vision Pro.

The news was shared by 9to5mac, suggesting that the Vision Pro's recovery process would be similar to how the Apple TV and Apple Watch's recovery process works. What this means is that if the software update fails on the Vision Pro, you can use your iPhone to perform a recovery operation for the headset. This will restore visionOS to its original state with the latest update installed.

Apple has designed the recovery process of the Vision Pro in such a manner because the headset can not be connected to a computer as it does not feature a USB-C port. The process will be fairly simple and will delete all data stored on the Vision Pro. Since there are chances of a failed software update, you should always keep a backup of your data. Apple introduced a new firmware recovery option on the Apple TV with the launch of iOS 17.

Take note that the process will save a lot of users from taking their headset to the Apple Store. Additionally, it is not guaranteed that visionOS will be restored completely as there could still be some errors lurking in the operating system. However, it is too early to draw conclusions as the headset is not launched at this point. Apple is slated to launch the Vision Pro headset on Friday, February 2. The company has already released visionOS 1.0.1 ahead of the headset's launch.
