Apple Vision Pro prices for higher storage variants

Apple will officially launch the Vision Pro headset on February 2 in the United States. The pre-orders will go live a week after the launch on February 19. The company detailed internal information about the headset last year but did not share if the Vision Pro will be available in higher storage variants. It was recently covered that the headset will start with 256GB of storage capacity. However, if the company plans to offer higher storage variants, how much more would users have to pay for the Vision Pro headset?

Apple implied in its press release that the Vision Pro could come with higher storage variants - Check out the estimates!

Mark Gurman recently reported that Apple's Vision Pro will house 16GB of RAM. He also states that the RAM count is the same as the developer kits, which were made available only to select developers after the announcement. Performance-wise, the Vision Pro is more than equipped to handle visionOS apps as it is running the M2 series of chips coupled with the R1 for AR purposes. In terms of storage, Apple's press release indicated that the headset will start with 256GB of storage capacity. This could imply that the company will sell higher storage variants of its upcoming headset.

Apple's Vision Pro is an expensive headset costing you $3,499 for the base model. The higher-end variants could come in 512GB and 1TB options, further increasing the headset's price. It was reported last year that Apple sent out some Vision Pro developer kits with 1TB of storage capacity. If the Vision Pro features the same RAM as the developer kits, the same could be valid for the storage options. However, how much could Apple charge for higher storage on the Vision Pro, considering it already features a hefty price tag?

Since the Vision Pro houses an M2 chip, we can assume estimates comparing the device to a MacBook. The 512GB storage variant of the Vision Pro could cost you $200 extra, up to $3,699. However, the 1TB storage variant of the Vision Pro could cost you $400 more, which takes the price up to $3,899. Note that these are mere speculations at this stage, as the prices could vary. While the upgraded storage options are welcome, the higher price tag is not, considering users have already spent $3,499. The prices could go even higher since it is a new device altogether.

It mainly depends on what you are buying the Vision Pro for. If you only buy the device for media consumption, video streaming apps do not take up much space. However, if you are planning to store Spatial Videos on your headset, you are advised to choose the higher storage variants. We will share further details on the headset's storage as soon as additional information is available.
