SEGA has announced that Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. will launch on October 30 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X, with the Nintendo Switch 2 still coming but at a later date. Fans can now sign up for a chance to participate in the closed beta test planned for early September on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. Console users will need to register for a SEGA account here. By participating in the closed beta, players will receive a special in-game title.
Pre-orders are available now and will provide all customers with the Sega Hardware Customization Item “Genesis”. This can be equipped by all 19 base characters in the game.
Those who order Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage 30th Anniversary Edition ($49.49) will unlock the following:
- Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage base game
- Legendary Pack
- Yakuza Series Collaboration Pack
- Virtua Fighter 30th Anniversary Swimsuit Costume Set, Soundtrack Collection, and Ranking Titles
- Virtua Fighter Pre-Production Artwork
A standard edition is also available to pre-order for $19.99. Each paid DLC pack included in the 30th Anniversary Edition will also be up for individual purchase at launch.
This new version features cross-play, rollback support, and key improvements to the training mode. Moreover, a brand-new single-player mode called World Stage is coming to the game as part of a free update. Here, players will challenge powerful rivals on a solo quest to become the ultimate fighter, unlocking customisation items along the way.
Additionally, Dural, the enigmatic antagonist of the Virtua Fighter series, will be added to the game’s roster as a playable character for the first time since Final Showdown. This paid downloadable content (DLC) will be available when the game launches on October 30. Do note that Dural cannot be used in official SEGA tournaments such as the Virtua Fighter Open Championship.
Those who own any PlayStation 4 version of Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown will be able to purchase the PlayStation 5 version of Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage for a discount of $9.99. Starting October 30, current owners of the Steam version of Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. will be automatically upgraded to Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage at no added cost.
